Intro:

My grandpa is with me every day, even we lost him years ago… He is still my inspiration and the man who made know how real honest love feels.
And suddenly i was triggered to Stutterheim’s site, reading the history, i had the feeling i had to order this… and so i did.

Read this…
Our Story (Stutterheim Story)

My granddad was a wonderful man. He often went out fishing from Arholma, (an island in the Stockholm archipelago) during stormy weather and then later in the evening he wrote poems as well as managed a big theater in Stockholm. He scared me to the bone every time he set off to sea to catch fish (or life, as he said), defying the worst of weather, the heaviest rain and the loudest of thunderstorms.

It was just recently that I discovered his old rain coat in an abandoned barn. In that moment, old memories struck me and I instantly wanted to wear his coat. It was both stunningly cool and very practical too (although big as a tent). Carefully, I brought it back home to my kitchen and imagened it in an updated, contemporary version. A homage to my granddad, and the quest for life.

After my discovery, I went out to buy a piece of oilcloth. I put it on the kitchen floor and cut out a design using the old coat as a pattern. I showed the sample to a couple of friends. And after some improvement, there it was – the 60‘s raincoat from the archipelago, updated to fit the modern man.

I brought the prototype to the last standing textile factory in Sweden – in the small town of Borås – since rainwear has been engulfed by the sportswear industry and production has moved to low cost-countries far away. As soon as I met the manager, Johan Käll and the seamstresses Birgitta and Lena, I knew they were the right people. A perfect match. Their skills, tradition of craftsmanship as well as their great attention to materials and detail, and the concrete design of my granddad’s coat and the updated prototype, awoke the idea on how to do it – by hand.

And there it was. The coat. With all its seams taped and sealed. In the very best quality. Hand made and with a discreet, classical cut. The first 200 coats – Arholma Svart – were made and sold in my apartment. Each coat was signed and numbered by the seamstress, (they still are) to really make sure the quality matched the very highest of standards.

After a couple of months, (when my neighbors became suspicious of all the people in black coats) I had to move my business to another location. The new store, showroom and headquarters, in which I wrote this text, became our very own venue for experiments within the realm of rain and darkness. And from now on, it’s here where every new idea and product is born.

I am very happy, (although I am melancholic from time to time) that I have managed to give new life to my granddad’s old coat. A coat to wear when in the countyside, at the sea or just when you’re strolling along in the city. To be well-dressed, even in bad weather conditions, is now possible.

I surely hope that you will follow this wonderful project in the future. Any ideas on new items, colours or designs are happily recieved by me or my dear colleague Ludvig. Send an e-mail to rain@stutterheim.se, visit us daily on our Facebook page www.facebook.com/stutterheimraincoats or follow our tweets at @A_Stutterheim.

Welcome to embrace the demons lurking outside and hiding within.

Sincerely,
Alexander Stutterheim

As som of my follwers

This was the story of Alexander, due to his story i found some pictures of one of my Grandpa’s motor ships.

Baldwin’s Henley in California Wash

Fact: You’re going to need a pair of jeans with a light wash for summer. Nothing looks better with tan feet, and those raw denims won’t breathe well when the mercury rises. When it comes to washed jeans, you’re either buying vintage, or a new pair that looks like this. Let me save you the trouble: vintage is smelly. Meet my favorite pair of light jeans in the world, the Baldwin Henley in their California wash.
Baldwin
Every wash the boys from Kansas City. cook up is based on the wear pattern from an employee or a customer’s previous pair. “I used one of my original Henley’s that I broke in for inspiration for the Cali wash,” says founder Matt Baldwin. “We use a process with resin for the 3D whiskering behind the knees, and the upper thighs that is applied and raised by hand. It’s an extremely labor intensive process where we hand sand, and wash the jean down to that perfect spring/summer color.” That’s love. And yeah, €258 ain’t necessarily cheap, but there’s 99 days between Memorial Day and Labor Day this year… Let’s just say it works out to a bargain.

Quotes

“When in doubt, less is more. Start with a clean, dark one-rinse or be brave and go raw.”
-Scott Morrison, 3×1 Founder and Designer “Fashion is not that complicated ”

“it’s more about proportion than knowing about the newest, coolest shit. A shorter dude, for example, should always wear a tapered leg. ”
-Brandon Svarc, Naked and Famous Founder and Designer

“The number one mistake? Buying a jean that fits perfectly. It’ll stretch about a full size during your first 30 wears, so always size down. ”
-Matt Baldwin, Baldwin Founder and Designer

“Look under the hood and inspect the make: The cleaner the seam work, the smoother it’ll feel against your skin.”
-Miles Johnson, Levi’s Vintage Clothing and Levi’s Made & Crafted Creative Director

“Cuff your jean -especially when the fabric is selvedge. One turn or two turns. I cuff mine at about 1 1/2 inches to hit just above the ankle.”
-Frank Muytjens, J.Crew Head of Men’s Design

Over-Washed Boot Cut
“They’d be okay on some hot-ass cowboy, but not on a guy who sits behind his desk for most of the day- it just doesn’t feel authentic.”
-Eunice Lee, Unis Founder and Designer
So we added new styles online and re-ordered different colors and sizes, so if you don’t see your size now, check next week!

Sometimes we have to wait a little longer but now they are in again, New York made ties from Alexander Olch. Cotton pintstripe, checks or plain together with the round pochette, a Alexander Olch trademark.

Finamore finally delivered some vintage shirts in the slim fit or in the extra slim fit, soft matarials, washed and non fused collars and cuff’s. We are happy to announce in 2 days time almost the half of it is out of stock, but soon more Finamore.
