A branded Milk Glass mug produced by Tsunago Craft, Inc. a company specializing in reproducing milk glass containers, a material popular in mid 20th century America but a rarity in today's world.
Produced by glass craftsmen who press each piece using standard mold press molding. The whitish lines on some surfaces are caused by the temperature difference that occurs between the time the molten glass is poured into the mold and the time when the glass begins to cool down until the craftsman applies the press, making it unique to handmade products.
The designs are printed at a pottery factory in Toki City, Gifu Prefecture, Japan, the hometown of Mino ware. Specialized craftsmen called “pasters” apply the seals by hand using a technique called water transfer, painstakingly remove air bubbles, and carefully prepare each piece for firing.
